Last month the Detailed I Do’s team partnered up with some of our favorite industry creatives for a mini-shoot at the Gown Collective. With Carrie Joy Osborne behind the lens, Margaret Snider behind the brushes, and Megan Dunlap of Dianthus & Co.‘s fresh autumn bouquets, it was quite the session! We successfully crafted up five different looks on two different models in four hours and had a blast doing it.
For the Atlanta bride, this gown shop is a dream. Gown Collective is warm and welcoming with something for every personality and body type. If the natural light pouring through the windowed storefront doesn’t catch your eye, the maze of pretty pieces surely will. Let us guide you through our day, which started off with a hair + makeup brunch at founder and head planner, Danielle’s, house.
Danielle’s brunch spread was to die for . . . mini chicken and waffles, cinnamon rolls, oh and these apple cider mimosas with a brown sugared rim. After fueling up, the team headed out to the westside to meet at the Gown Collective.
Upon arrival the Detailed I Do’s team began sifting through all the beautiful pieces and choosing which ones to feature on our models. Which you can imagine, was a field day for us. Carrie Joy began using her keen eye to scope out spots to shoot. Margaret continued her hair and makeup magic and somehow whipped up the most amazing bridal braid we’ve ever seen in what seemed like five minutes. But, more on that to come later, let’s check out our first look on model, Sarah.
Getting ready in the Gown Collective‘s cozy changing area is comfortable and makes for more cute candids. The tufted grey settee, white robes, and fluffy rugs make it easy for any Atlanta bride to relax.
Sarah was stunning in this light and airy Ivy & Aster gown. One of our favorite elements about this dress is the texture. It’ll definitely win the heart of any Atlanta bride that’s seeking ease and comfort.
Next, we transformed Sarah into a fur-wearing winter bride in the long-sleeved, oriental embroidered Catherine Deane Kendall Gown. The combo of this detailed dress + Dianthus and Co.’s autumn bouquet created a layer of textures we couldn’t take our eyes off of.
Sarah’s laugh and smile is utterly contagious and after shooting with her we were all so giddy about continuing our day of creativity with this incredible team. Next up was model, Kaitlin, who just so happens to be my future sister-in-law! Now folks, this is the braid I mentioned earlier. So many brides want to go with a safe, total up-do hairstyle, but when working with a hair and makeup artist as talented as Margaret, live on the edge a little! Margaret will not steer you wrong. Even if you think your request seems outlandish, she puts her own spin on it, we like to call it her magic touch. She can make any style look elegant and effortless.
We dressed Kaitlin up in none other than a strapless, lace-bodice Sarah Seven gown. This dress is simple and fun and honestly a blank canvas in the best way. The floral color scheme and unique braid only complimented it even more.
After Sarah Seven graced us with her presence, this next gown also blew us away. It is fully beaded with an open back and has a weight to it that reminds you of the quality. Check out the detail of the Karen Willis Holmes Cassie Gown below and how stunning the fit is.
This gown is a mixture of modern and that 1920’s speakeasy feel. The way the sunlight reflects off the beading and causes a slight shimmer is just beautiful. This was definitely one of our favorite picks.
Now comes the showstopper. This spaghetti strapped, cowl neck Nicole Miller Tara Gown is sleek and definitely gives us Kate Moss vibes. Carrie Joy spotted this fun wall and it gave this gown the perfect pop.
And that’s a wrap! Thank you to the ladies from the Gown Collective for letting us get to know you and allowing us to freely create in your gorgeous space. We so appreciate this amazing vendor team and our models for making this happen. When your job allows you to work with people you love in an environment that’s creatively driven, it’s hard to consider it work. <3
