Visions of terracotta villas, the smell of fresh rosemary, and miles of grape vines danced in our heads during the months leading up to Candice + Matt’s wedding day. We worked with this amazing couple for full planning + design to fulfill the Tuscan vision they had for their big day. When I say ‘worked’ with Candice and Matt, it actually felt like quite the opposite. These two are the most fun and everything from emailing to the tasting felt like spending time with close friends that just happened to also be one of our couples.
Montaluce Winery & Restaurant in Dahlonega was the setting for their Georgia winery wedding. If you haven’t paid a visit to Montaluce, you owe it to yourself to spend the day there. The photographs below by Lindsay LaRue tell the most beautiful story. We hope you enjoy this gallery as much as we enjoyed every bit of planning this day!
November 3rd was the perfect day for a wedding. Not too hot and not too cold, a slight breeze in the air, and mild sunshine beaming down onto the ceremony space. Montaluce has Tuscan-inspired villas on the grounds that serve as lodging for guests. The bridal party stayed beside each other in twin villas the night before the wedding.
When we arrived on the morning of the 3rd, we payed a visit up to Candice’s villa as the ladies were getting ready. Candice had this glow about her that left us all smiling as we headed back down to the restaurant. As wedding planners, we get to see such special moments that will be remembered by the couple and all their loved ones forever. On Candice and Matt’s big day these moments were so special to witness, especially since we hold these two so dear to our hearts!
Candice and Matt did a special unity ceremony that involved 2014 Monteluce Merlot, which represents the year they met. They both poured the wine in unison into this engraved decanter. The decanter was sealed and will be opened on their one year anniversary. This couple has a love for wine, so this one year anniversary treat will be perfect for them.
Each guest found a miniature glass bottle of rosemary infused olive oil at their place setting. These favors were such a unique way for the couple to express their gratitude for their guests’ presence on their special day. It was important to us that we kept each detail in tune with the Tuscan inspiration and these mini olive oils were spot on with the wedding day vibe.
Candice and Matt had their first look outside of their villas. These two got ready in houses right next to each other and then met in the garden for their first look. The genuine love these two share for one another shines through these photos. Their warm expressions say it all.
This is the best ‘groom reaction’ photo ever! Major props to Lindsey LaRue for capturing this sweet moment, we never expect anything less than magic when working with her. Matt’s reaction here is one of sheer joy. Yes, his eyes are welling up with tears of joy, but his body language and face says it all. He’s feeling like the luckiest man in the world, I mean look at that grin!
These two are hitched! Candice and Matt popped their first bottle of celebratory champagne as a married couple to kick off the evening. Now, it’s off to the reception space for dinner, dancing, and a cigar bar. The restaurant at Montaluce looks out onto the vineyard and the sunset. The dining room glowed with ambient sunlight that reflected off the farmhouse tables and onto the breathtaking floral. Potted herbs were placed purposefully by Lindsay Coletta to surround the estate table. We wanted to bring the feel of a Tuscan garden into this reception space.
Candice’s genuine reaction when her and Matt saw the space before guests arrived makes out hearts melt. Head planner, Danielle, smiled ear to ear as she led the two around the space. As planners, this is what we live for! And we can thank Lindsey LaRue for always being camera-ready and having a sixth sense about capturing special moments like these.
A preset bowl of spices, powder, and herbs that’s ready for soup greeted guests as they found their seats. As servers came around to pour the soup, guests watched in awe as the mixture immediately dissolved. Candice and Matt loved the idea of having these bowls preset. We were all amazed at the tasting, so they were excited to see guests’ reactions on the day of.
This fireplace was the focal point of the reception. The floral at the base of the fireplace were repurposed from the ceremony aisle. Due to the abundant candlelight and fire, this spot radiated a beautiful glow that spread throughout the space.
What a wonderful day this was! This Georgia winery wedding was one for the books. Working with couples as loving and kind as this one makes all the moving parts and work that goes into a wedding day just an afterthought . Candice and Matt, we adore you and wish you all the newly wed bliss!
